Russia here I come!

I taught 3 years in China and am interested in coming to Russia.
Please advise what I should do and offer some advice as to whether it is practical to work in small towns.
I understand Moscow is the most expensive capital in the world. With US$l300 a month, will it be possible to survive?

Its 6.30am and I've been up since 3 (thanks drunken Irish man and girlfriend!). In approximately five minutes I'll walk outside and flag a cab to Beijing Central Station. Its time for me to board the Trans-Siberian!

Along the way I'll be keeping a daily diary and hopefully writing a lot of blog entries I've thought of but never got around to. One week from now, I'll be in Russia - wahoo! Prepare for many stories and even more photos (including details of my fabulous trip to the Great Wall yesterday!).
