Russian Wife....American Music

Postby Anstice » 02 Feb 2009, 14:58

I am curious. Does anybody else have a Russian Wife that likes to watch the CMT channel? My wife has been here in the USA going on 4 years and she cannot get enough of the CMT channel and country music. She particularly likes the female vocalists.

She DID NOT get this from me. I prefer to listen to 70's Rock.

Of course, she also has a lot of Russian Cd's.

But if I jump into her car to go somewhere, that car radio channel is almost always set to country music.

We have a rule, whoever is driving chooses the music.

With my wife it is Latin music. I like it but not 24/7.

When driving through Tennessee this past summer, we heard some C&W. She called it "farm music." Made me laugh.

My Tennessee cousin had a party with live Bluegrass and whole hog BBQ. She found that interesting but not for long (see photo).

I sometimes play blues from my youth (Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Lightning Slim, etc. - yes I am old) and she has no comment.

One time as a joke I played a Hawaiian CD and explained how special and wonderful it is. She could not restrain herself and called it kaka. I tried to behave offended but after a few songs I broke out in laughter. It is bad unless on a beach in Hawaii after consuming a few umbrella cocktails.
