What is the position of homosexual people in Russia?
Do they have to be afraid or they feel free to be themselves?
By the way don't you think that tolerance to this and to anything at all should be brought up since quite young age, in schools, maybe even children gardens?

I don't think that homosexuality is something that is talked about in Russia: the society is quite conventional in that sense, and supports traditional family values.
What seems to irritate Russian authorities and the Orthodox Church in particular is the Western concept that homosexuality must be made visible and flounted in public, like some foreign NGOs try to import in the country. The ban of 'Gay parades' is symptomatic of that resistance; they are banned on the ground that they are an insult to morality and a breach of public order.

Homosexuality has stopped being a unique social phenomenon in Russia. However, several public figures and politicians started talking about the need to reinstate the article of the Russian Penal Code, according to which homosexual relations between adult men are punished with a term in jail.

pf, I can't believe people still see this as criminal. Hey, I'm all into women... but geez, whatever floats your boat. If someone is gay, then that's fine with me! Maybe some people see it as being 'ill' -- not me, but very well... but criminal? Come on :(

I absolutely agree. I believe the question of love is a private question

Its always depends on the personal likings of the person to person they do exist in every place before too but people were not so brave enough to cry out they have this experience but now people are more bold and media is also strong.
