Europe gas supply may be cut

Russia's prime minister, Vladimir Putin, has demanded Ukraine to pay the gas bills by Saturday, or else he would cut off the supplies to the European region. I believe that this move could set up a new gas war ? What is your views and Was Putin's stance right on this issue?
